
Resilience Based De-Escalation Training
Training Presentation Summary:
Resilience Based De-Escalation Training is designed to develop felt safety and build resilience interventions for both the learner and those they serve in a way that is practical and accessible to everyone. The neuroscience-based strategies in this training provide a roadmap to felt safety, de-escalation and prevention.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this training participants will be able to identify and address:
1. Identify ways to create felt safety for the learner and those they serve. a. Developing a Felt Safety Plan for the learner. b. Developing a Felt Safety Plan for those served.
2. Prevent and address crisis situations nonviolently by using interventions in the Felt Safety Manual.
3. Identify ways to build resilience for the learner and those they serve.
Schedule/Agenda:
9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Identify ways to create felt safety for the learner and those they serve 10:30 – 10:45 a.m. BREAK
10:45 – 12:00 p.m. Developing a Felt Safety Plan for the learner and an individual they serve
12:00 – 1:00 p.m. LUNCH
1:00 – 2:45 p.m. Prevent and address crisis situations nonviolently by using interventions in the Felt Safety Manual

Trainers
Bio: Andy Maidlow, Chief Operating Officer (Community Supports, Inc.)
Andy is a Certified Trauma Specialist and has been with Community Supports, Inc., for 8 years. As Chief Operating Officer he is responsible for day-to-day operations, program compliance, strategic planning, state/county collaboration, client acquisition, and training programs for a Supported Living agency committed to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. Andy is also co-founder of the Building Capacity Through Trauma Informed Care grant in Hamilton County. He directly supervises Community Supports team members that are implementing Trauma Informed Care practices. He obtained his bachelor’s degree at The College of Mount Saint Joseph in Cincinnati, Ohio. He has been in the DD field for over 20 years. Andy has previous experience in the field as Director of Supported Living Services with Total Homecare Solutions, LLC, as a Service and Support Administrator with Hamilton County DDS, and as a Therapeutic Recreation Staff member at Cincinnati Recreation Commission.
Bio: Danae Riggs, Certified Trauma Specialist (Humans Being Human, LLC)
Danae brings 20 years of non-profit experience to her leadership with a purpose-driven focus to love and live in a way that promotes equity, justice, empathy, forgiveness, and wholehearted healing. Danae has a background in program development, implementation, and management, with a key focus on advancing and educating leaders in their own fields through education and training, as well as her favorite component of transformational and balanced living — Coaching. As a life coach, facilitator, trainer, doula, direct caregiver and more, she brings a fierce love, and compassion to all she is, and all she encounters. Among her proudest work is growing an AmeriCorps program, Public Allies Cincinnati, in the early 2000’s, leading to the creation of the Ohio Center for Progressive Leadership. She served as their State-Wide Program Director, Life Coaching: working one-on-one with people from diverse backgrounds and varying abilities, as well as being a mom, partner, community member and more.
