What was your very first job and how did it affect your career path?
My first job was being a waitress for 20 years. It definitely affected by career path. My boss was a hard working woman with a heart of gold. She taught myself and my coworkers a strong work ethic and compassion for others. She always pushed us to do our job regardless of what kind of day we were having. She instilled in me the importance of playing an active role in my community. She helped those in need with free meals when they had financial difficulties and attended funerals when customers passed. She treated her customers not only with respect but as friends.
What is your favorite holiday and why?
Not Thanksgiving! I feel sorry for the turkeys! I would say Halloween is my favorite holiday! My dad’s birthday was on Halloween and he loved it. Halloween brings back happy childhood memories of watching “Dark Shadows” television series and the movie “The Haunting” from the 60’s. I have carried some of these traditions on with my children and grandchildren. We attend Hallow Weekends at Cedar Point each year. We also enjoy scary movies! I love spooky stuff and blood and guts! Maybe that is why I am a nurse!
What is your favorite Disney movie/character and how does it relate to your life?
I love the old Disney movies! Bambi was my favorite. I was devastated when Bambi’s mother was killed by the hunter. I believe that animals are not recognized for how smart and compassionate they are. They have their own language and should be valued. I believe this movie influenced my choice to be a vegetarian. I love animals and have been known to go out of my way to ensure their safety and show them compassion!
What is your favorite dessert?
Barb Bacak’s buckeye brownies! They are so creamy and sweet. They are my new obsession and are to die for!
What would be your perfect vacation?
A trip to Hawaii! When I get there I, want to fly to each of the islands spending time enjoying all of their beauty. I have been there before for my daughter’s wedding on Maui and have always wanted to go back. It was a perfect vacation. I would love to visit Hawaii again.
What is the hardest lesson you have had to learn?
I want to answer that by reading you a poem by Robert Frost!
